What’s the deal with Internet Marketing and Advertising?
Hey everyone! It has been a very busy last few weeks and I finally made some time to make a good blog post.
When I explain to people that I do Internet marketing for small businesses, their eyes kind of glaze over and I don’t think they quite understand what that means. Unfortunately, due to the poor ethics of many Internet marketers, some people even associate Internet marketing with online scams and unwanted ads popping up in their e-mail.
After I get past the initial confusion and any negative preconceived notions they might have, I usually explain to them that as the owner of an Internet marketing company I help local businesses increase their sales while at the same time decrease their advertising costs.
As far as advertising in Bakersfield goes, and advertising EVERYWHERE, there is no other form of media that can compete with Internet marketing in regards to ROI and three important categories:
First off, the advertising is HIGHLY targeted. We help you reach the people that are ACTIVELY searching for your services and products. Generally speaking, people don’t listen to the radio for ads. Most people don’t watch TV for the commercials. And most people don’t pick up the paper to read the ads. And who wants to wade through pages and pages of a heavy phone book anymore when they can look online?
Secondly, the advertising is HIGHLY trackable (I made that word up, but it works). With radio and TV you might get some demographic numbers, but at the end of they day you don’t really know how many people you have truly reached with your ad campaign. Online marketing allows you to truly see how many people you are reaching with specific and organized data.
Last but not least, Internet marketing is completely permission-based. It is not invasive because these are people LOOKING for you. They want to hear what you have to offer. They have a need that YOU can fulfill. They are not waiting for your ad to stop running so they can get back to their favorite news or entertainment broadcast.
Don’t get me wrong, all the forms of advertising mentioned above can be very affective if executed properly. However, Internet marketing should be seriously considered by any business that is looking to gain new customers now and in the coming years.
